This paper intended to study the impact of using the Cognitive Research Trust programmeme of teaching writing skill in analysing the dramatic texts among a sample of students at the University of Basra - College of Education/Qurnah - Department of English. The researcher in this paper has put a hypothesis in order to achieve its aim, which is “there is no statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the control group (taught according to the traditional approach) and the experimental group (taught according to CoRT programme)”. with the aim of achieving the purpose of the current paper and confirm the hypothesis, a theoretical background about writing skill and CoRT programme must be presented. The sample of this paper consists of 30 students, they are into two groups (the control and the experimental), which are randomly selected. The researcher conducts a pre-test to make the equalization. To analyze data and get results, the researcher utilized an appropriate mathematical device. The results of this paper have validated the hypothesis of and achieve the aim of this paper, which show that “there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the control group (taught according to the traditional approach) and the experimental group (taught according to CoRT programme)”.
