Abstract

This scholarly inquiry seeks to examine the criteria employed for distinguishing homonymy from other linguistic phenomena within the discipline of linguistics. Through an extensive review of relevant literature and qualitative analysis, the study endeavors to offer insights into the unique attributes that serve as demarcation points between homonymy and closely associated linguistic concepts, including polysemy and homophony.
